I chose this wig for a more natural, blowout look, as opposed to silky straight look, and in that respect, it did not disappoint.I really must have mis-measured prior to ordering however, because when it arrived, the wig ended up being a lot longer than I’d expected it to be, so I ended up trimming it quite a bit.I’m really not sure why some people were surprised to find that leaving hair out would be required for this particular wig. I’m not even a “wig person”, and I knew that a U-shaped closure meant that my hair would be left out in the crown area.The hair is synthetic but it actually *can* be curled. I was able to achieve curls by using perm rods in very hot water, followed by a blow dryer, and I was also able to curl it by using a flat iron set to 365°. You have to use common sense when doing this, because obviously, synthetic hair is going to melt if you expose it to heat for too long.Please be advised that if you do choose to curl this hair using heat of any type, be it from an appliance, or from hot water, it will most likely lose the natural, textured look that it had when you purchased it, and it will instead take on a silkier look that may or may not match your leave-out.

I was pleasantly surprised by the fullness of this hair. I have tried to find a good kinky straight headband wig, or something to just throw on and go that mimics my hair when it’s blown out and not styled, to no avail. The hair is usually thinner/less dense than expected based on the product picture, and I’m left disappointed. I’ve purchased a couple of headband wigs from this company that were supposed to mimic straightened black hair, and the wigs are practically balding, so I didn’t have much hope for this U part wig.It’s still not perfect, but it’s better than what I imagined I’d get. As you can see from the photos (the white outfit was day 1 of wearing), this hair is thick and the same length of my real hair, very soft, and has no smell straight out the package. What I was even more surprised by was how big the wig cap is. Like I said, I have a lot of hair and a big head, so wigs are usually very snug on me. This one was too big, especially after I cut the middle to clip it down in front. And that’s another thing – I realized I don’t like the feel of the clips, so I unclipped the wig and tucked them under a wig cap instead, then put an extra wide headband over it and wore it like a headband wig. The headband helped to secure the wig, though it didn’t totally cover the part (which you can see in the photo in green), so if I wear this out in public where it can be seen, I’ll have to put a hat or turban over it.Note that the hair does shed a lot, mainly at the ends. You can see from my photos that the hair came cut very uneven in the back and sides and from day 1 (in white) to day 2 (in green), the ends started looking wonkier and wonkier, like I gave my five-year-old niece scissors and let her run with them while cutting my hair. So know that if you buy this wig, you’ll likely have to keep trimming the ends.I’m also not sure this is actually a U part wig. Maybe it’s just my unfamiliarity with these types of wigs, or maybe it was user error, but it looked like a V part to me. But again, I won’t be wearing it like that anyway, so it’s no big deal though others looking for a legit U part may be frustrated.
