The length of the nylon bristles receives mixed reviews, with several customers finding them too long.

    Quality bristles and construction
I’ve been Bass dual-bristle hairbrushes literally my entire life. My mom always said they were the best, so I always just bought the same brand whenever I lost a hairbrush or a new puppy chewed one up.Then came Amazon with all it’s cheap Chinese sellers, and I thought I would save a few bucks. Well, folks, you get what you pay for. The cheap generic brush shed boar bristles immediately and the nylon ones were so bendable that they offered no additional detangling. They also pulled right out when I would try to clean the brush. I was honestly relieved when my foster dog chewed it up and I could buy a new one.Back to Bass. The nylon bristles are pleasantly medium firm, enough to work through thick hair and give you a good scalp massage, but not so firm they will pull and break the hair. These brushes are also made to last–you won’t need to buy a new one unless you lose it. I’ve had some of mine for a decade.Other reviewers are correct that the tips come off the nylon brushes in the course of use. Personally, no one in my household minds this and we do not find the untipped bristles painful. My itchy husband actually views this as a bonus–he uses his as a backscratcher. The best backscratcher, according to him. In a nutshell: a great dual bristle brush with a dual purpose, lol.

Amazing hair brushes, I will never use anything else!
I found these hairbrushes in a local natural goods store over 10 or 15 years ago — I’ve gone back to purchase brushes twice in that time — once to add a brush for travel so I never lost the one at home, and recently due to wear on the brushes. They are long lasting, have a nice feel, and work really well on my fine thin hair. They easily brush out tangles without too much hassle without pulling out my hair. They are also nice to look at.

NOT the Same Bass Brush … It Damages Hair
I bought a Bass styling brush years ago from my stylist. It’s a great brush and I still use it. This brush is nowhere near the same quality. The nibs started breaking off soon after I started using it. The plastic ends are sharp and cut my hair and scalp. So sad that a great brand has been ruined by China.

    Quality. Control. Comfort. Results.
The best brush for my type of hair! The blend of boars hair & synthetic bristles feel great on my scalp & runs smoothly through my hair bringing a nice luster. The brush Hanfle is beautiful glossy wood with tiny brass screws – looks like a well made tool. It fits comfortably in my hand with no sharp edges. The rounded edges and flat sides help the brush stay steady in my hand (it doesn’t swivel).

A bit of effort required for cleanup but otherwise a great brush
This is a nice brush. The nylon bristles help remove any knots from hair so I don’t have to pre-brush to remove knots before using a boar bristle brush. The boar bristles themselves distribute natural hair oils evenly across hair and my hair is always shiny and soft after using this brush. The only real problem I have with the brush is that it gets dirty very easily and it can be a pain to clean. Broken hair, dust, oil, etc. tends to get stuck in the individual bristle spikes on the brush and I have to use a little hook tool to remove it.

I am 100% loyal to this Bass hairbrush.
The combination of natural bristles and pin-head bristles is perfect for getting all the way to my scalp while still enjoying the benefits of natural bristles.I love the wooden handle and sturdy construction. This brush holds up for years. It’s the only hairbrush that works for me; I usually buy two at a time, out of fear of the style being discontinued.

I really wanted to love this brush, but its just ‘ok’
Bought this brush for my super thick hair. Needed something with boar hair bristles to keep the hair oil in check and something strong enough to get through my hair. This does both. Rating it only 3 stars (wish I could do half stars then it would be 2.5) because a bunch of the little nubs on the nylon bristles have come off. The brush is now scratchy, and uncomfortable to use. Not sure if I just got a bad one or what. I have several brushes with these nubs on them in different types and brands and I haven’t had a problem with those. Some of them have lasted for years without losing nubs and this one isnt quite two months old and has lost about a third of them. If it wasn’t for this issue, I would have given the brush a 5 star rating.

    My Favorite Brush!
Excellent brushes, I have several! I love that it’s a combination of natural and plastic bristles. I have thin, fine hair that tangles very easily so just a natural bristle doesn’t get the tangles out, but a plastic bristle brush hurts my scalp. This is the best of both worlds. It is well made, I’ve had mine for several years and only now have to think about replacing the oldest one due to the tips of the plastic bristles breaking off. The key to making them last is in how you remove the hair that gets caught in the brush, you have to remove it gently and often (Clean your brush!), then you won’t rip off the tips! Great brush!!
