Works great, even when diluted
This stuff is great and can be thinned with water and still produces a smooth, glossy finish. I used it straight out of the bottle and a diluted version and there was no significant difference in appearance. I used it primarily between coats of different colors of acrylic paint, which allowed me to rub off portions of the top layer of paint in certain areas to allow the painted layer underneath to show through. It worked great with no smudging or damage to the original layers. The gloss goes on easily and dries fairly quickly and the fact that you can thin it with water lets you stretch the product without compromising it. Amazon’s price was significantly lower than the local hobby shops and it arrived undamaged. Would definitely recommend this product.

Another exceptional product from Liquitex!
I use this all the time for making image transfers, skins, as an adheisive, and also use it as varnish to protect my finished pieces! When first applied, it appears a bit cloudy but dries very clear and glossy! I like to water it down some when using it as a varnish because it helps it spread easier. I do about 1/4 cup water to each cup of varnish. I’ve been using it for over 2 years and love it!

I wanted something easy to use
This will put a high gloss finish over chalk paint, but the nicest part is it works with chalk paint. I wanted something easy to use, inexpensive, and gave me an easy to clean high gloss finish…this was perfect. You do need to let it dry for a couple of days if you live in a humid part of the country. I live in the Midwest, and even with AC, you still have humidity. There’s no detectable odor, it easy to apply with a brush or roller (depending on the surface). I painted a Jenny Lind bed frame with homemade chalk

Expensive but nice finish coat.
I bought this to use as a finish coat to add gloss and texture to my paint-by-numbers. The Paintworks paint is matte which I dislike; I wanted a slightly glossy finish. This is expensive especially with shipping costs, but it works great brushed over the finished and dried painting to give texture and gloss. I only used a thin coat (to make the bottle last longer); it would be nice w/ a thicker coat if you have the money. Glad I purchased this and will continue to use it.I’ve also used it to mix w/ some of the paints to extend and smooth them. Works great. I took off one star because of the cost.

Superior product
I’ve used this product for years. It an excellent alternative to varnish. Or, you can still apply varnish over it for an even higher gloss than varnish alone. Really makes your colors pop. I also use it it on partial areas of some paintings to make contrasting statements. You cant do that with regular varnish because the painting would require “repainting” with varnish if the old varnish needed to be stripped. Frankly, I prefer to be the sole artist on my paintings.

Glossy
Great pouring medium for acrylic paints. This also added a nice sheen, when a final topcoat was applied with a sponge.

Absolutely perfect!
Works beautifully for my acrylic paint, extending the drying time a tad and mixing with the paint perfectly. I can’t paint without it now. Well worth the money!

Excellent product
I use this stuff on nearly all my projects (sculpture, paintings, etc). It’s perfect and I’ve noticed no degrading in the last decade of use – either on the art or on the shelf.

I was nervous buying varnish online but this one was a great choice. it takes about a day to fully set, but sets hard; not sticky or plastic-y and doesn’t turn yellow. dries fully clear
