Excellent release from Calvin Klien
Let’s face it. I haven’t been a huge fan of Calvin Klein’s fragrances for a long time. Eternity was great when I was in middle school, but it hasn’t been very relevant for me for quite a while. I picked up Amber Essence out of curiosity, since I was seeing a bit of hype online and hearing good things about it. I think that it’s a good return to form, and this may be their best fragrance in recent years. It opens with a clean citrus note that has a bit of freshness but isn’t overly sweet or acidic or sharp. The amber and vanilla start warming things up and give it a smooth, slightly creamy feel. It’s not overly rich or heavy, just enough to make it interesting. The dry down continues to remain balanced – warm, slightly spicy, and subtle with a touch of refinement. I think this is an easy fall/winter go to reach for most day and evening activities. I’ve worn it to work and later to dinner, and it lasted a good eight hours without feeling overpowering. The projection is moderate – noticeable but not in-your-face, which I appreciate. I love how versatile it is. It can be casual for work or everyday wear, but can be dressed up a bit for a date night or dinner with friends. I think it’s a great release from CK and shows that they are making a bigger push to develop something that resonates.My only knock is that this is coming in February, and it’s about to be Spring. I think it will be okay as the weather remains cool, but I have other stuff that I look forward to as the weather warms up. So it’s going to sit on my shelf for six months until fall comes. I wish this was coming out in late September so I would have more opporutnity to wear it while it’s new.

Perfect for Fall/Winter Nights!
I have over 50 colognes, and I know I needed this when I saw it! I prefer tropical, aquatic scents, but I do have a thing for vanilla as well. Distinguished as Oriental Spicy, the main accords are amber, vanilla and citrus. Top note is mandarin, middle note is amber and base note is vanilla. I get vanilla right out of the gate, but that’s me. Perfect for crisp winter and fall nights. I wouldn’t wear this in the heat – it may be too much. Its a moderate cologne and lasts a good 4-6+ hours on the skin. It definitely stays on your clothes longer than that. Projection is good and the sillage is fantastic. Definitely resembles a Boss DNA, but I’m not sure which one. Great for the Winter/Fall collection!

Smells so good!!!
Got this for my son, and it smells so good. I don’t know about the vanilla or bourbon smell, but it kinda reminds me of Polo. Not exactly like polo, but definitely has a similar smell, not quite as strong.The smell lasted nearly all day, you could still smell it on his clothes. Calvin Klein used to be really popular, maybe this is the start of a comeback.The cost of everything is going up, so the price on this seems about right, for this size.I definitely recommend, it smells great, it’s long lasting, and a pretty good value.

Not my cup of tea
I tried to give this a try, but I could not do it. If you like smokey earthy you will like this. I did not like it. I much prefer the aromatic essence. That one was way better, for sure.

I don’t much smell the vanilla or bourbon, but do get a pungent, citrusy kind of smell. This is a fairly large spray bottle, and I like a spray bottle over anything else.I’m not a regular purchaser of colognes, but the bottle comes in a basic white thin cardboard wrapping inside the brown printed box, wrapped in plastic. There is nothing to really denote authenticity or anything, but I have no reason to believe it is fake.Overall, nice scent. Use VERY sparingly, and it’ll be a nice way to feel good when headed out.
